The IDEAL TOUR project will develop a complete framework of knowledge and design on management of accessible tourism in Europe within a 18 month project .
Phase 1 – (5 months) – Accessible tourism management state-of-the art , survey and training needs. Knowledge and experiences sharing within the partnership on all kind of developed and emerging accessible tourism and connected leisure services will be performed. State-of-the-art of management, facilities and services for accessible tourism destinations and specialised offers for tourism for all will be analyzed. It will be set up and carried out: i) a survey based on questionnaires (online via internet and on paper) oriented to acknowledge by tour operators the basic demand (transports and accommodations) and aggregate services (cultural trips, outdoor and sport activities, wine and food tasting, etc.) from tourists with different disabilities according to special access needs.
Phase 2 – (8 months) Training activities for accessible tourism – Set up of an interactive training course based on the previous training needs analysis on Power Point slides with different access level: a) basic access level with information and tests from the brochure (European Qualifications Framework EQF 2); b) professional level for operators in charge of touristic reception for persons with special access needs (EQF Level 3); c) professional level for providers of integrated tourism services (cultural tourism and environmental tourism guides, managers of leisure and sport facilites, tourism front office providers, wine and food tasting providers, suppliers of transports and other logistics etc.) (EQF Level 3); d) professional level for managers of tourist facilities, activities and services specifically addressed to persons with physical and mental disabilities.
Phase 3 – (6 months) Accessible Tourism Training, Entrepreneurship and Management Design – A model will be set up based on universal design of facilities, best practices and case studies of accessible tourism and training for policy makers of tourism destinations, operators and managers of companies specialized in accessible tourism. An assessment process will be set up to evaluate The case studies from accessible tourism destinations and companies will be also implemented with short demonstrative trailers. A case study on Castiglione del Lago as a destination of excellence for accessible tourism will be implemented. Evaluation criteria for accessible tourism facilities and services with specific focus on personal customer care will be added to the model.
Phase 4 – (12 months) Dissemination of project results and accessible tourism offer. Based on results from the end of the 1st phase workshops and educational sessions will be organized in Castiglione del Lago for carrying out tourism packages that will be presented and offered in the framework of the general exhibition World Travel Market 2016 in London and of the Gitando.all 2017 accessible tourism exhibition and Buy Italy For All (BIFA) in Vicenza.
Phase 5 – (3 months) International Workshop and Exhibition on Accessible Tourism (IDEAL-LAKE-TOUR) 2017 and IDEAL-TOUR Final International Conference (Castiglione del Lago, Perugia). Based on results and experiences from WTM London and Gitando.all in Vicenza. An international workshop will be organized in Castiglione del Lago addressed to managers of tourist facilities, policy makers in charge of tourism and tour operators for tourism incoming and outbound. The event will be based on a public conference with presentation of the IDEALTOUR project results and a two days exhibition on accessible tourism B2B demand and offer addressed to accessible tourism professionals. Special guests will be representatives of the accessible tourism destinations of excellence awarded in 2013.
